The Via Vespucci building is located in a large transformation area between the historical Milan and the Porta Nuova area, marked by steel and glass buildings.
The architectural, civil and system intervention concerned the whole building and provided for the construction of new striped facades, consisting of blind guards and transparent window bands with aluminum frames, applied to existing ones, the realization of a new double height entrance hall, the rationalization of the distribution layout of the floors and the complete renovation of the attic with the demolition and the realization of a new attic floor office, with a mixed structure, large windows and metal cover suitably insulated.
The systems were transferred on the roof to use the two underground floors as garage.
Significant, for energy performance, were the interventions on facades, roofing and new boilers.
The continuous facade is made up of aluminum uprights and crossbars and fixed cells that can be opened. Transparent surfaces are made with low emissive selective glass, opaque surfaces are formed by high density sandwich panels.
The insulating package of the roof and the terraces is made up of a heat-insulating panel of expanded volcanic rock with low transmittance. Condensing boilers, recovering the latent heat of combustion of gas condensation, allow to achieve over 100% yields, thus ensuring a reduction in energy consumption.
